2015 Emmys: Andy Samberg gets ‘controversial’ (okay, not really) in first promo
The Primetime Emmy Awards are going to be leading off the official start to the fall TV season come September 20, and at the center of the big show this year is a guy in Andy Samberg who has a flair for silly comedy. While he’s not a comedian known for zinging people like a Jimmy Kimmel or a Seth Meyers, we know why he was chosen to take the gig: He’s got a ton of live TV experience thanks to “SNL,” he is the star of a Fox show in “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” and he even has a musical background thanks to the Lonely Island. You have to think that this is going to be implemented into the show somewhere.
The video below is one of the show’s first promos, and we suppose that it is reasonably pleasant. We’re not sure that we’d label it “hilarious,” but it’s hard to really do that much with a very limited amount of time.
In this promo, Andy goes through a list of things that you can say on television, though the majority of them are borderline and could be thought of as dirty if you heard them wrong. It’s a cheeky promo for Fox, and this is probably the sort of humor that Andy will probably have on the show itself. It’s similar in a way to him “roasting” people while doing the Comedy Central Roast of James Franco.
Unfortunately for Andy, he was not nominated this year for “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”; however, his co-star Andre Braughter is up for Supporting Actor.
