‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 9 spoilers: Laurie Metcalf, Keith Carradine to return
If you wanted to see more of some beloved members of “The Big Bang Theory” family making an appearance or two next season, the following bit of news is right up your alley.
As first reported by Entertainment Weekly, the upcoming ninth season of the show is going to feature the returns of both Laurie Metcalf in the role of Sheldon’s mother, and then Keith Carradine as Penny’s father. You will get a chance to see Sheldon’s mom during the season 9 premiere (hopefully to console Sheldon somewhat after things between him and Amy went south right before he was planning to propose), while Carradine will turn up in the third episode of the season. By that point, hopefully we are going to get a chance to learn a thing or two more about whether or not Penny and Leonard actually got married while in Las Vegas, or if Leonard’s admission of cheating aboard the boat has derailed their entire relationship once again.
With a potential Leonard / Penny wedding coming one way or another, it does raise questions about whether or not we could see either Penny’s mother or Leonard’s father at some point. These are two of the most-prominent (and seemingly alive) parents that we have never had an opportunity to meet. Neither speaks much about these particular parents, and maybe the reason they have not turned up yet is that they just don’t fit into the story in the way it’s played out over the years.
The new season of “The Big Bang Theory” premieres on Monday, September 21, but don’t worry – we will have many more spoilers about the new season here at CarterMatt.
