For all of those who have wanted a little bit of something more when it comes to “Fear the Walking Dead,” AMC is presenting you now with a gift: The first three minutes of the new zombie drama, which is premiering on Sunday night at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time.
We’re not going to say necessarily that this promo is that eventful when it comes to action for a good two minutes of it, but there is a sort of apocalyptic quality to it even though it is set before many people know the zombie apocalypse is even happening. Nick is front and center here, and he eventually realizes within the walls of one of the creepiest churches imaginable that there is something terrifying taking shape.
The big selling point of this show is that it is the perfect prequel to “The Walking Dead” proper, or at least it is right now. It is going to begin by covering the time in which Rick Grimes was in a coma. Maybe it is possible that it catches up to the original show in time, but that is not something that is being planned for the immediate future.
Given the success of the original series, it is probably pretty fair to assume that there are some at AMC who are interested in figuring out whether or not this has anywhere near the same sort of staying power. Our assumption for now is that the ratings will be decent, but probably not anywhere near the original … and they’ll be fine with that.
