‘Hannibal’ season 3, episode 12 preview: What to do with Freddie Lounds

Fans of “Hannibal,” we are almost there. Come Saturday night the penultimate episode of the season and maybe the series will air, and there are so many questions that remain.

To us, though, one of the biggest ones revolves around just what Will Graham, Jack Crawford, and really the entire BAU is going to do in order to finally capture Francis Dolarhyde once and for all. Using the media is one potential avenue that they could use … and this brings us to Freddie Lounds. She is someone Will has been somewhat-hesitant to work with in the past, and we feel like one significant component in his reasoning why is his own fear about some of his own inner demons being exposed. He does not necessarily want anyone to realize his own darkness, or that maybe he is more like these killers than he would choose to recognize. Freddie is smart, and she can decipher more than most in her field.

Perhaps what we are most curious about when it comes to the final two episodes of this season for Freddie is to see how they adapt certain scenes from the books. Without giving anything away explicitly, there are scenes in the source material featuring Freddie round this time, but on the show these same scenes have already taken place. Are they about to remix the Freddie character with another, or deviate from the source material altogether? Time will tell with her.
