‘Game of Thrones’ season 6: Another perspective on uncertain future
There are a pretty wide array of reasons to be excited for “Game of Thrones” season 6, but one of the biggest ones to us is that we are simply diving into what we feel is for the most part a great unknown for the series. Filming is taking place, and we’re at the moment choosing to keep ourselves as in the dark as possible, other than reading a few interviews here and there featuring some of the cast and crew. We have no interest in looking at some set photos taken by some paparazzi who are trying to interfere with production.
One of the people who is currently working on the show is Jeremy Podeswa, who directed multiple episodes of season 5 and will be back for the new series. He spoke recently to GoldDerby as a part of their Emmy series, and he made it fairly clear that while there have been conversations with George R.R. Martin, that is really all that they have to go on:
“What we’re shooting currently, it’s not based on anything in the book. It’s only based on discussions that the writers have had with George [RR] Martin … [after all], the series has now surpassed the books in terms of what’s available.”
Podeswa was quiet on whether or not Kit Harington could return as Jon Snow, but made it clear that regardless, there is a lot to look forward to in the episodes that are coming up.
Season 6 is going to premiere on HBO in the spring, and in theory it is possible that Martin’s next book A Winds of Winter will be available before then. However, nothing is confirmed.
