‘The Daily Show with Trevor Noah’ promo hints at physical change (and little else)
If you are interested in seeing “The Daily Show with Trevor Noah” on the air, the first thing you really should be aware of at this particular moment is that you are going to be waiting at least a little while longer for it to air. The show will be premiering come September 28, and basically the entire set-up for the promo below is that Noah has a different read end than Jon Stewart. Also, he is significantly taller. We know that there will be some other changes to the show, but they may not be revealed for some time. Noah is more of an international comic, and he will probably bring a very different worldview as someone who probably only heard so much about American politics at one point in his life.
This new promo also comes out at the same time as Stewart’s former correspondent turned “Nightly Show” host Larry Wilmore tells The Hollywood Reporter that he was initially surprised to see Noah, who had limited experience as a correspondent, landed the gig:
“Once again, I was surprised. I didn’t really know Trevor’s comedy that well. When he was first hired on The Daily Show, I remember they were very excited about him. I watched a couple things and thought, Wow, this guy’s great. But I was surprised they went with him at first, just because he’s not American. So that part was a surprise. But in terms of his talent and funny, I thought it was a real interesting choice.”
We’re interested in seeing what Noah brings to this show, but we do anticipate it taking a little bit of time before it starts to really find its voice. The same can be said for so many other talk shows.
