‘NCIS’ season 13: Mark Harmon developing new project with CBS
Clearly, Mark Harmon has no problem staying busy when it comes to his producing duties with CBS. The star of “NCIS” is already an executive producer on the New Orleans set spin-off show, and he is now working to adapt another show based on the experience of a real-life Navy SEAL.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, the actor is working to help develop Navy SEAL Brandon Webb and author John David Mann’s work entitled The Red Circle: My Life in the Navy SEAL Sniper Corps and How I Trained America’s Deadliest Marksmen (clearly, one of the longest titles ever). The events of this book will at least serve as a backdrop for a potential series focusing on similar characters, provided that it does get picked up.
The obvious question that we have here is just how many different series about one particular branch of the Armed Forces CBS can really have here, but the truth is that if the ratings hold, they can really just stick however many that they want on the air. Who is really going to stop them? The answer to that feels, at least to us, like “nobody.”
Even though Harmon is going to continue branching out into producing that does not prohibit him at all from continuing to play Agent Gibbs on the long-running CBS show. The show has not 100% confirmed that Gibbs is making it through what happened to him on the “NCIS” season 12 finale, but it’s not too hard to read between the lines here when the dust settles.
