‘Gotham’ season 2 spoilers: A change coming to the Firefly character

Gotham -Gotham” is going to bringing another villain with DC Comics origins onto their show for the upcoming second season, but as it turns out, there are going to be a few pretty big twists to go along with it.

According to a report from TVLine, the Fox series is bringing aboard Michelle Veintimilla to play their version of the character Firefly. It’s a little bit different than the comic origins even going beyond the fact that this one (a.k.a. Bridgit Pike) is a woman. Just take a look at the description below:

“Enslaved by her brothers, a notorious gang of arsonists, Bridgit Pike is forced into the family business. When she catches the eye of Selina Kyle, the young Cat Woman and the soon-to-be-Firefly team up to put Bridgit’s firestarting skills to good use. But after a deadly encounter with the Pike Brothers, the meek Cinderella is transformed into a vengeful supervillain, hell bent on destroying those who have wronged her.”

To us, really the only commonalities between this Firefly and the comic-book versions are the bad intentions and the desire to light things on fire. This is really the show going with a very independent adaptation of the character. One of the benefits to doing things this was is that they really can allow the character to stand out a little bit more on their own, and not necessarily limit the ability for another Firefly to eventually enter the picture in their own way.

The new season of “Gotham” will premiere on Fox September 21. We’ll have more news soon!
