‘Game of Thrones’ season 6: One interesting Hodor theory worth hearing about

Game of Thrones” season 6 is currently in production, and while we have absolutely no intention of spoiling anything, we don’t think it is really that big of a surprise that you’re going to see more Hodor. Isaac Hempstead-Wright has already said that Bran Stark is going to be back, and when you consider that, his companion seems almost sure to be coming back for the ride, as well.

Actor Kristian Nairn is responsible for playing this excellent role on the show, and he has really thought about some of the finer details of the part … including even just what “Hodor” itself may mean. This is something that he discussed with The Huffington Post in a new interview (See below), and he talks about some of the Norse mythology that suggests that “Hodor” may be a not so subtle connection to the north:

“George [R.R. Martin] calls on mythology in his writing … Does he do anything by accident? I don’t know. It could be part of the whole ‘winter is coming’ thing; the others, the actual White Walkers — he could somehow be connected to them.”

Personally, we don’t really think that it is that complicated, mostly because we feel like this show seems to be beyond creating some of these crazy twists endings that you see on other networks. Our feeling is that Hodor is just Hodor; he feels an attachment to Bran Stark, and will do what he can to help him. If we are surprised at some point down the road, then we’ll be the one with egg on our face for calling this wrong.
