‘Downton Abbey’ season 6 spoilers: Michelle Dockery’s on Mary’s upcoming story
We have heard at least a little bit as of late in regards to how Michelle Dockery is saying farewell to “Downton Abbey” after spending so many years aboard the iconic ITV series. Isn’t it time to learn at least a little bit more in regards to how we are going to say goodbye to her character of Mary?
Of course, it is inevitable that there are some out there desperate for her to find love again after what happened with Matthew, and following some failed attempts with Tony Gillingham and Charles Blake, there was another suitor who turned up in this past Christmas Special in Talbot (Matthew Goode). This is a man who will turn up at some point in the final season once again, but in the beginning love will not be Mary’s main focus. As Dockery tells TVLine, her character will instead be largely preoccupied with doing what she can to ensure that the estate at Downton is cared for, since she has to handle so many of Tom Branson’s duties to go along with her own:
“She’s taken on the role of the estate agent because Branson’s left, so she’s a working girl. She’s not really actively looking for anyone.”
We have said before that we would be surprised if Allen Leech is really done with the series. However, this does not necessarily mean that if or when he returns, he will be working for Robert and the estate again. We just imagine that sooner or later he will come back from America for a visit, just to spend some time with his family again.
