‘Outlander’ season 2 notes: Extended theme song; Tobias Menzies’ new movie

While we are still fully immersed in this Droughtlander, we are pleased today to offer up a few more reports when it comes to the Starz series! Hopefully these in part will help to make the wait for new “Outlander” episodes in 2016 all the more bearable.

The extended theme song – Is this one of your favorite parts of a given episode? If so, we imagine that you are going to very much enjoy getting to hear the extended version of “The Skye Boat Song” (performed by Raya Yarbrough) below, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly. Tobias Menzies casting – We know that Menzies will be returning at some point during “Outlander” season 2 as Frank Randall, which will be nice since we have not seen the character since the first half of season 1. (Menzies’ other character in Jack Randall certainly made his presence felt plenty earlier this spring.)

Deadline is reporting today that Tobias landed another gig in the latest installment in the “Underworld” film franchise (labeled for now “Underworld V”). Specifically, he will play a “mysterious Lycan leader” by the name of Marius. This is certainly a great get for the actor, who has shown pretty effortlessly at this point that he can play both likable people and also some of the most despicable human beings imaginable.

As the series continues its run, castings are something that we expect to see more and more of. The performances of the cast are one of the primary reasons why this show is so well-received, and they are going to be more than likely in-demand for years to come.
