‘Criminal Minds’ season 11 spoilers: Could Aisha Tyler do multiple stints on the show?
For a good while now, we have considered Aisha Tyler to be in some ways the replacement to Jennifer Love Hewitt on “Criminal Minds,” and we are starting to think now that maybe we are doing it wrong. Why? The more that we hear, and the more that it is being made clear that she is actually more of a fill-in for AJ Cook while she is on maternity leave.
Speaking to TVLine, showrunner Erica Messer more or less confirmed such by saying that Tyler is set to be there until Cook returns, and also saying that “there’s still no one replacing Kate. But we’re looking forward to the opportunity to bring in other ‘good guys’ to be guest stars.” She even said that it’s possible that Tyler, who is busy with “The Talk” and other TV endeavors, could still return at some point down the road if she is available and the story works.
We imagine that at some point, the show will probably add another regular to the mix, but there is really no hurry. They may wait to see what the ratings are for season 11, go through any contract talks in the spring / summer of next year, and then figure things out from there.
What we can tell you for now is that the new season of “Criminal Minds” will begin starting on Wednesday, October 30, and some of the other guest stars planned at present include Tim Kang of “The Mentalist” fame and also recent “NCIS” guest star Marisol Nichols.
