‘MasterChef’ season 6, episode 14 review: Who went home after particularly gross challenge?
We gotta say first and foremost that tonight’s “MasterChef” episode has to be one of the most disgusting that we’ve ever seen, mostly because of that Pressure Test. We’ll be really happy if the show never puts out an animal head on the show ever again. It’s just gross.
We’ll at least take a minute to give Tommy’s team here their due. Throughout certain parts of the team task, it looked like his team was utter chaos; yet, they still pulled it together in the end, leaving Hetal, Olivia, Derrick, and Claudia competing in the Pressure Test … and that is a heck of a field there. These are four of the better cooks in the competition!
The moment that we saw this lineup, we were very worried for Olivia. While Hetal is a vegetarian and this had to be almost impossibly hard for her to deal with, at the same time we’ve seen her conquer that and still figure out a way to cook some successful dishes in the competition. Olivia just hasn’t had the screen time that you tend to see from a winner of this competition, and the other three are people we could see at the end.
If there is any silver lining that Olivia can feel over going home in this spot, it is probably that her dish wasn’t really bad. The problem was that she and the other cooks had to make a certain unusual part of the protein the star, and she really didn’t. It got somewhere lost in there. This was a predictable end to a predictable episode, and one that we probably will not be raving about in the weeks ahead. Grade: C+.
