‘Under the Dome’ season 3: Will the dome come down at season’s end?
It is not particularly common for networks to drop such an enormous spoiler at a TCA Summer Press Tour event, but this is what CBS did when it comes to the current third season of “Under the Dome.”
While speaking to reporters, network programming head Nina Tassler made it very clear that at some point before the end of the third season, we are going to finally see the dome taken down. This is obviously a tremendous change for the series, and in some ways it could fundamentally change the series … if it even continues beyond this point. Tassler did not say that this was proof that season 3 would be the show’s last, but this may be the show hedging its bets, and making sure that it does not end in a way that disappoints many people out there.
At the moment, we do consider it very much a toss-up as to whether or not the series is going to be back. The DVR ratings are strong and the show does have a lucrative streaming deal with Amazon Prime. However, these do not make up exclusively for what are some pretty low live ratings, and with its cast and its effects, we imagine that this is a pretty pricey summer show for the network to make.
Regardless of what happens with the series, you better believe that we’re going to be around with some more scoop every step of the way! Be on the lookout for more news soon.
