‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ season 7 spoilers: Callen’s secret operation in premiere

“NCIS: Los Angeles” tends to a good job when it comes to keeping their season premieres a secret, and at the moment it does not appear that this one is any exception. After all, they have presented us now with a synopsis for the upcoming September 21 premiere that is not entirely specific. It does give you a few details, but it doesn’t necessarily let everything out of the bag:

“The seventh season premieres with Callen embarking on a secret project, leaving Sam and the entire team in the dark. After Hetty demands his operation be shut down, the team is tasked with locating Callen before he finds himself in over his head.”

From our vantage point here, the largest mystery is rather simple: What is this “secret project” that Callen is off doing? Is it something that pertains to anyone else, or is this just something entirely personal? That is something we hope the show offers up some further information on at some point reasonably early on this season.

What’s also somewhat surprising here is the complete lack of even a mention when it comes to Deeks and Kensi. These two took center stage for much of the second half of this past season, with their relationship being something that was much-appreciated by many fans. After years of waiting, it was finally happening! We know that we are going to get some more of that throughout the upcoming season, as well, but it may be presented with a different set of challenges for them.
