‘The Good Wife’ season 7 spoilers: New details on premiere; plus, the Kalinda – Alicia finale aftermath

The Good Wife -Before we talk about the future of “The Good Wife” this fall, let’s pend a minute or two addressing the past. Specifically, we are talking here about the decision to not have Julianna Margulies and Archie Panjabi film their final scene together on the show at the end of season 6. It was the first time that Alicia and Kalinda had shared a scene in years, but the issue is that they did not share it in actuality.

We want to start here by saying this: Nobody really knows for sure just what is going on here. It’s likely that there is a personal reason somewhere that kept these two actresses from working together, but that is all we know. Panjabi has said that she’s not the person to make such decisions, Margulies (who is a producer on the show) has said next to nothing, and today at TCA CBS head Nina Tassler defended the finale, and cited “movie magic” as the main push behind that big scene in the finale. The one thing we really have a hard time buying is Tassler’s claim that she had not heard that people were upset about learning that the final Alicia / Kalinda scene was not as it seemed.

Now, let’s get to talking about season 7! CBS released today the synopsis for the premiere, so take a look at that below:

“Alicia attempts to revive her struggling law career by once again starting her own law firm, this time with the assistance of Jason Crouse (new cast member Jeffrey Dean Morgan), a calm, experienced investigator whom she hires. Also, to help with his Presidential campaign, Peter engages Willa Eastman (Margo Martindale, recurring), a national strategist who hides her intelligence and cunning under a fake, folksy charm, creating an interesting dynamic with Eli in the process. In addition, Cush Jumbo joins the cast as attorney Lucca Quinn.”

We are still excited about the future of the series, mostly because it is one of the most well-written network TV series out there. However, we’d be lying if we said we felt the same way about it as we once did before the Kalinda / Alicia drama went down. Unless there is some legitimate reason released as to why the two did not film at the same time, it just feels petty.
