ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 8 spoilers: Hayley will not take away from Castle, Beckett
We’ve said it a few times over now that there is nothing to worry about when it comes to Hayley snatching Castle away from Beckett on “Castle” season 8, but we understand that sometimes it can be rather comforting to hear it from the show’s boss himself. Luckily, this is what this particular story on the show is really all about.
Following a variety of different questions as to how this new character (played by Toks Olagundoye of “The Neighbors” fame) is going to work her way into the series, executive producer Alexi Hawley had the following to say to Entertainment Weekly:
“For us, her character was never meant to be competition … She’s a strong, powerful, beautiful, independent woman and she adds a flavor of that into the show, but is not — in any way shape or form — competition for Beckett. She has a very different perspective on how she attacks cases different from Beckett, which is going to create some fun tension.”
To us, the short way to sum up the present of Hayley (formerly of Scotland Yard) is that she will add another fun dynamic to the crime-solving perspective of the show. This is something that does benefit heavily from some growth and adaptation over time, since you do want to continue to find ways to keep the story fresh and exciting.
New episodes of “Castle” will start airing on September 21, and if you have not heard already, Beckett will be a (spoiler alert!) Captain of the precinct when the show comes back. That is a different change from when Gates (who is now off the show) was in charge; she will have more responsibilities, and a different dynamic with Nathan Fillion’s character.
