Stephen Colbert’s first ‘Late Show’ guest to be George Clooney

Late ShowIt is official: Stephen Colbert is going to be welcoming George Clooney to “The Late Show” come Tuesday, September 8.

In a post on Twitter, Colbert made the news official while joking that someone really should tell George that he is going to be doing the show. It is far from a surprise to hear this particular news, mostly because it is a well-honored late-night tradition for there to be some big stars on the night of a particular premiere. Clooney is one of the biggest out there, and he is extremely charismatic and should help to get the show off to a great start. You want the premiere to be as high-energy as possible right?

For those of you who are feeling somewhat-bummed that Colbert’s first guest is not Jon Stewart, we’re not altogether surprised. The goal with this new show is to establish something different, and that includes a new identity on a new network. While we’re sure that some of his old Comedy Central pals will be featured eventually, he does also want to move away from the persona he has done so well on “The Colbert Report” and “The Daily Show” for so many years.

Colbert has been fairly active this summer doing promos and hyping up what his show could be as much as possible. While we imagine much of his off-the-wall humor will still be there, you are also going to get a chance to see some insightful interviews and also a house band, which is something that was never present back during the Comedy Central days.
