‘The Daily Show with Jon Stewart’ finale scores show’s second-best ratings
Ultimately, we think of these numbers as a nice parting gift to a man in Stewart who helped to change the face of comedy and what Americans think of political coverage. He was a skilled satirist beyond the shadow of a doubt, but he was also extremely regarding for influencing young minds and encouraging discussion. Trevor Noah will begin his stint as the host of the show on September 28, and with that premiere will of course come a different sort of pressure.
As for what is next for Jon, the comedian has made no official plans other than to spend more time with his family in New Jersey. Stewart is only 52 years old, and in leaving the show now he is leaving the window open for him to write or direct other projects, or simply just take some time to figure out what his next move will be. Financially, he is set for the rest of his life and then some.
Just for fun, you can watch again the first segment of the final “Daily Show” below. While the whole series is great, the first half-hour in particular is a thing of beauty to see of the correspondents return.
