‘The Daily Show with Trevor Noah’: When does the new show premiere?
Tonight, “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” ended in what was an emotional final show, and one that was jam-packed full of tears, surprise cameos, and many a fun moment. For the most part, almost every past correspondent we wanted to see showed up, and Stephen Colbert gave us what may be one of the best stretches of pure television joy in recent history.
Now, we look towards the future, and that future goes by the name of Trevor Noah. When will he take the reigns as host for this grand shindig? The answer is simple: Monday, September 28. In case you are wondering what happens to get us to that point, it goes something like this:
1. Stewart’s set is taken down and moved. As we reported yesterday, the Newseum in Washington DC is going to preserve it in celebration of some of its achievements.
2. There will be a ton of time for everyone to be acclimated to the new show. Much of Stewart’s staff is staying on for Trevor Noah, and he has worked with many of them before. Therefore, there is a certain air of familiarity about the whole situation; Trevor is not going in here completely blind.
3. Our guess is that there will be rehearsals and test shows aplenty to prepare Noah for what will be a very different sort of television experience.
When the show does premiere, Noah will have to realize that it will take some time to earn the respect now just the viewers, but also guests. Stewart was able to get many big-name politicians on his show just because it was him, not because of the network or the show. He has the pedigree, but he does still have quite a bit to prove.
We imagine that we will be covering Trevor aplenty over the months ahead. For now, head over here for more of our take on the finale. Also, sign up here to get some further TV news on everything we cover via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: Comedy Central.)
