‘Beauty and the Beast’ season 3, episode 9 review: Can Vincent get Cat back on board?
To us, there is almost no doubt that this past episode of “Beauty and the Beast” was the strongest of the season, even if for some of you out there it have been one of the most difficult ones to watch. Everyone wants to see Vincent and Catherine married, and thanks to that nobody really wants them to be emotionally devastated. The events of the botched wedding were severe enough that at the beginning of Thursday’s episode, Cat had no interest in trying to hunt down Liam.
The rest of the story was for the most part all about seeing if she could be convinced to change her mind. It took a lot of effort and also plenty of talk of “destiny” (plus Heather talking with Cat’s father from prison, no less), but she finally started to realize that this was her duty, and something that she really could not avoid. One of the best parts perhaps of the entire episode was the mentions of Rebecca and Alistair, which brought back some early memories for longtime fans of the show.
As for the weaknesses, the major one was simply that this was not the most eventful hour in the history of the show. It was largely about getting Cat back on board with working in secret to stop the beasts and the experiments; as for JT, it was meant to cause some doubt into whether or not he was completely in the clear of having powers. Think of this as a foundation for the final episodes of the season, where our characters go after Liam and finally work to get the answers they so badly want.
Was this episode a revelation? Far from it, but it did at least provide some entertainment. Grade: B.
