TV Quick Hits: ‘iZombie’ season 2 scoop; ‘Orange is the New Black’ star in ‘The Wiz,’ ratings, and more
Today is turning out to be quite the eventful day for TV news, isn’t it? That’s why we are bringing back the TV Quick Hits feature to cover it all!
Robert Knepper joins “iZombie” – We love Knepper, though the irony is big about him joining The CW show at the same time his former show “Prison Break” is being revived over on Fox. According to Entertainment Weekly, Knepper will play the very important role on the Rob Thomas series of Angus, a success businessman and intelligent figure who will not hold his son Blaine in very high regard. He may be the most polarizing character named Angus since the days of “Two and a Half Men.” (Sorry, obvious joke.)
Season 2 of “iZombie” premieres a little bit later this year.
“The Wiz” casting news – NBC is really trying to get a great cast together for their upcoming adaptation of the hit production, which will be their live musical event later this year. “Glee” alum Amber Riley has been cast to play the part of Addaperle, the Good Witch of the North (who ironically is not the best at magic). Meanwhile, Uzo Aduba of “Orange is the New Black” will play Glinda, the Good Witch of the South. We’re especially glad to see Aduba getting to play a part that is so different than Crazy Eyes … and we also hope that this is the end of those rumors that Beyonce is going to be a part of the show somehow.
“Mr. Robinson” ratings – For those who care, the Craig Robinson series got off to a decent start on Wednesday with a 1.2 and a 1.0 for its first two episodes. If it stays consistent around that level, it may have a shot at coming back despite being a summer burn-off show.
