Ken Jeong chimes in on ‘Community’s’ end, still wants to do movie
It’s still possible that there could be a change in “Community’s” status before everything is said and done.
Earlier today, we had a chance to hear some comments go relatively viral when it comes to what Joel McHale had to say about the future of the show. Namely, he feels like due to the salary limitations and having cast members who are now bigger stars, it’s hard to really have another season of the show. We do not exactly think that there is anything altogether surprising about what he said, but at the same time this is being reported everywhere as huge news. Part of the reason for that is more than likely because most everything before McHale’s comments were meant in a more hypothetical sense. He just went a little more definitive with it.
We should say that in response to that Yahoo (who now owns the rights to the series) has come out to say that they still have some hopes to do something more with the brand, and while promoting “Dr. Ken” today at TCA, Ken Jeong made it clear that he would be open to going back:
“I would love to do a movie. Doing a movie would be amazing. Those guys on ‘Community’ made me the actor that I am today, [and] I wouldn’t be here as a lead on my own show [without them].”
As we said earlier, we think that a movie based on the hit show will eventually come out, but there may not be some enormous hurry in order to have it happen. Let everyone else work on some other projects, and then circle back eventually with the movie when everyone has some time (and hopefully you can get back the likes of John Oliver, Donald Glover, and others).
