Apparently, “Revenge” fans don’t need to store away the red Sharpie just yet … it is still possible that something within the same universe as the ABC show could turn up at one point.
Earlier this year, it looked like there could be at least a spiritual spin-off to the show in the form of “Kingmakers,” which came from one of the show’s executive producers in Sallie Patrick and was at least going to be set in the same universe. While not cast members from “Revenge” were considered regulars, there was a chance that someone could appear at some point … and that show just did not happen in the end.
With that said, ABC head Paul Lee confirmed today at the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour that there is still hope for something tied to the to come on the air eventually. Per TVLine, here is what he had to say:
“We didn’t land [the ‘Kingmakers’] pilot but … it’s a wonderful brand; it’s known around the world. That doesn’t preclude us from doing it again.”
We feel like the challenge here is along the lines of trying to figure out a way to ensure that there is a unique project that can stand on its own, and then maybe find a way to include a “Revenge” character or two in the process. The ratings for the Emily VanCamp series at the end were not good enough to justify a new show that appeals only to those fans, though one based off of Nolan (Gabriel Mann) would be fun.
We are not holding our breath on a new series coming out ultimately, even though we do feel like it would be a pretty fun idea in the end.
