‘The Daily Show with Jon Stewart’s’ final guests to include Amy Schumer, Denis Leary, Louis C.K.
Jon Stewart is really starting to prepare for the end of the road, and when you look at some of the final guests that he has confirmed for “The Daily Show,” there is one clear throughline: They are all comedians. Ultimately, he seems to want to give a reminder that his legacy should be in comedy with this show just as much as politics.
Of the group, we’re not surprised to see Amy Schumer (an up-and-comer with a Comedy Central show), Denis Leary, and one of the most famous comics working in Louis CK on the bill. All three of them will bring some laughs, and probably all have a big appreciation for what he has done there. There were rumors at one point about whether or not Schumer would want to replace him on the show. (Trevor Noah was eventually hired as the replacement, and his show will start September 28.)
There is a part of us that wants to see people like Bill O’Reilly or John McCain show up; while their relationship has been adversarial at times, they are also such a big part of the fabric of “The Daily Show’s” history that it would be strange to avoid them.
Also, we’re hoping for a significant alumni presence in the final show next Thursday, given that the roster for that is not confirmed. Stephen Colbert and John Oliver to us are musts, and they both are also in New York. Also atop our wishlist is Steve Carell, Samantha Bee, and Rob Corddry. All of them were huge reasons why this show ended up being such a huge success.
