ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 8 spoilers: New character surfaces with ties to Nathan Fillion’s Rick

The eighth season of “Castle” is premiering on ABC in September, and as it turns out, there is still quite a bit of great news coming up worth looking out for!

Specifically, we’re talking today about a woman who will be showing up at some point in the early going on the upcoming eighth season, and over time could end up having a very important role in some of what goes down with the Richard Castle character. According to a new report from TVLine, former “Hart of Dixie” and “Private Practice” actress Ann Cusack is going to be appearing as Rita, a member of a top-secret organization who appears in Beckett’s life … but actually has more of a surprising connection to Nathan Fillion’s character of Rick. Is he aware of it? It’s hard to say. Castle is not big on the secrets per se; the only major one that he has shared as of late was in “Hollander’s Woods.”

Still, one of the things that the show has done a really great job at over time here is making it clear that there are more and more things that we are learning about these characters on an almost-regular basis that we were completely clueless on beforehand. In the context of this article, this means discovering something about Rick that could be useful as Beckett tackles whatever it is that she is going through. Remember that her story is the top mystery right now, based on the way in which season 7 came to a close with the offer to enter politics.
