‘Ink Master’ season 6, episode 6 podcast: Jessa, Bart talk Kito Talbert elimination, difficult canvas

Ink MasterOver the years that we’ve been watching “Ink Master” we’ve seen some pretty difficult canvases on the show, but on this week’s episode we saw he most challenging canvas we’ve ever seen. It definitely played a part in sending home Kito Talbert, which was disappointing since we really love Kito and know that if he had gotten a different canvas we would’ve seen a very different tattoo then what we got. Kito’s line work is out of this world and if you haven’t had a chance to check out his portfolio online you really should!

In this episode of our weekly CarterMatt “Ink Master” podcast, co-hosts Jessa Carter and Bart will be talking about Kito’s elimination and how much of the blame lands on Kito, his design and how he handled the canvas, and how much of how much of the blame lands on the canvas with her attitude and unwillingness to work with her artist for the best design. Was she being difficult? Definitely, but if Kito had just given in and let the canvas have exactly what she wanted would he have been able to escape elimination? Mostly we just think that if you are a canvas with a very specific design in mind then “Ink Master” may not be for you.

Also we put the focus on Chris Nunez this week, being that the style was Japanese, which is his expertise, but production brought in another master in the style and had him not only design a Koi fish tattoo for the artist, but also tattooed it himself against the other artists. Why wouldn’t Spike use Chris who is an expert in this area and is one of their judges? We’ve seen Oliver step up during American traditional week, so why not put their faith in Chris as well -unless of course he didn’t want to do it, in which case then we have to ask “why not”?

Do you think that Kito should have given the canvas exactly what she wanted and should Chris have stepped up and designed the Koi fish for the artists?
