‘America’s Got Talent’ preview: Piers Morgan returns for final judge cuts

AGTAfter many rounds of judge cuts, next week “America’s Got Talent” is going to close things off with hopefully another series of exciting auditions, but also with someone who is very familiar to this franchise already: Mr. Piers Morgan.

Piers is probably the most controversial of the guest judges, mostly because we know that there are many out there who frankly just don’t like him for his honest but at times brash opinions of things. However, we do think that he is one of the best judges that this show has had over the course of his run; he was articulate with his criticism, and also only gave out compliments to those who really deserved it. Not everyone likes to be harsh, but that makes the reward so much better when you do succeed because you know you deserve it. We remember watching his reactions to people like Jackie Evancho or even Susan Boyle on British version of the show many years ago and realizing just how amazing they really are when his eyes lit up. Also, we do think that Piers was one of the best “Celebrity Apprentice” contestants of all time … even though we know the entire show is completely ridiculous and that is probably one of the many reasons why we love it.

It’s hard to really preview much of the remaining talent without knowing who is going to be moving forward, but the one thing we’re curious to see is how Piers decides to use his Golden Buzzer, because so far, there has been a pattern among the guest judges. Neil Patrick Harris (a man deeply involved in the Magic Castle) picked a magician, Michael Buble chose a singer, and Marlon Wayans picked a comedian. Does this mean that Piers is going to pick an act whose specialty is commentating on things?
