NBC’s ‘People Are Talking’ comedy re-named ‘Truth Be Told’
Truth be told, NBC realized that “People Are Talking” probably was not a great name for their upcoming sitcom. Granted, we’re not sure that “Truth Be Told” is altogether great, either.
The network has started to go through the process of officially changing the name of the upcoming multi-camera project featuring Mark-Paul Gosselaar, which is going to premiere come Friday, October 16. It still says “People Are Talking” in the official trailer, but you need not worry about that more than a passing glance.
The question that we find ourselves wondering at the moment is merely this: Is it really going to matter one way or another whether or not the show has a new title? Probably not. We don’t want to be snarky for the sake of snarky, especially since everyone loves to be rude already on the internet and proclaim that something will be “immediately canceled.” We recognize that there are hard-working people on this show. After watching the trailer, we just don’t think any title is going to help its chances at becoming a hit. Not only is it airing on a Friday (bad TV night), but the jokes are ones that we’ve heard on so many other shows at this point. We’re just not entirely sure what this show can really offer that has not been said somewhere. Let’s just say that they definitely have their work cut out for them trying to make this into something great after this trailer.
We will continue to take notes on the show anyway; after all, many great comedies do get off to a more-than-rough start.
