‘True Detective’ season 2, episode 7 preview: Vince Vaughn, Rachel McAdams in ‘Black Maps and Hotel Rooms’
Tonight, “True Detective” tried to make some of its boldest moves to date in setting up what will transpire in the final two episodes. We saw Ani go uncover to obtain some clues about the Caspere investigation, and we also saw Ray make some of his biggest personal sacrifices to date.
“Black Maps and Motel Rooms” is the title for next week’s penultimate hour, and that of course has an air of vagueness to it. The promo that aired after tonight’s episode was thankfully a little bit less vague. It showed at least some of the aftermath to Ani’s decision to escape the party with a potential witness, but also the pain of having potentially killed while under the influence of the drugs dished out there. She knows at least that she is closer to answers than ever before. Meanwhile, Frank will be feeling the same way on his end.
There are only two episodes left, and all four of our main characters are at least still alive. Is there anything in particular we are hoping to see? More than anything else, we’d say that we are pulling for Frank to at least get more involved with the other characters again after spending most of his time tonight separated and dealing with drug dealers. Everyone is searching for answers, and pooling together at this point could be wise.
Whatever happens from here, though, we do not see it ending well for all parties involved.
