ABC hypes up ‘American Crime,’ ‘black-ish,’ ‘How to Get Away with Murder’ Emmy nominations
If you remember back when “American Crime” was renewed for a second season, there were definitely reactions of surprise given that it was far from a ratings titan when it first came on the air. With that being said, we do feel now like ABC justified this move in a split-second the moment that the Emmy nominations were announced. The Felicity Huffman – Timothy Hutton series is one of the leaders in terms of total nominations … especially from a network show.
With that, why shouldn’t the network celebrate this and some other recent programming decisions? ABC recently released a new promo, and really the focus of it here is all about some of their Emmy nominees, whether it be this show, “How to Get Away with Murder,” “black-ish,” “Modern Family,” or others.
As for whether or not any of these series has a significant shot at actually winning an Emmy, that is a slightly different question since they all have some things working both for and against them. For example, “American Crime” will be up against another limited-series titan in “American Horror Story,” and while Viola Davis was sensational as Annalise Keating, she has to square off against another fantastic performer in Taraji P. Henson.
Most of the shows that we’ve referenced in this article will be premiering at some point in the fall. Meanwhile, you will have to wait at least until January to see what “American Crime” does for its next season. We’ll have more on that soon.
