‘Poldark’ finale spoilers: What’s next for Aidan Turner, cast in final two episodes

After following the form of how the show aired on the BBC throughout most of the summer on PBS, the network is changing up “Poldark” ever so slightly when it airs next week. The seventh and eighth episodes of the season are going to be combined into a single two-hour event, and this will give you a great sense of where the story is letting off, and where we could go for the upcoming second season. (Warning: Spoilers ahead!)

We’ll start off here by sharing what is the official PBS synopsis for the hour, according to TV Guide:

“In the Season 1 finale, Poldark is blamed when Verity follows her heart; and Warleggan seeks to stamp out Poldark’s smelting operation. In other events, an epidemic leads to tragedy; and a shipwreck proves to b both a blessing and a curse.”

We really do not want to say too much else about the finale right now out of fear of giving something major away. Let’s just say for now that while there are some moments of hope, there are also moments of unrelenting sadness. If you do not enter these two episodes with the expectations of tears, then you are totally doing it wrong. They will break you emotionally, and have you waiting at the same time for the show to come back on the air.

Quality-wise, we will say that these may be the finest episodes of the series’ yet, and led by Aidan Turner, this may be the strongest British import (at least in terms of dramas) since “Downton Abbey” first began.
