‘The Good Wife’ season 7 showrunners going ‘BrainDead’ for new project
Who knew that Robert and Michelle King were going to go from “The Good Wife” to a new project revolving around aliens?
While the status of the Julianna Margulies season beyond the upcoming seventh season is unclear, CBS has ordered a 13-episode summer series entitled “BrainDead.” The premise here is that you have a young Capitol Hill staffer who arrives to Washington, and realizes ultimately that things are not working as planned. Why? There are many reasons for this, with the major one being that aliens have started to eat the brains of some important political figures in Washington DC. It’s a strange transition for the Kings to make, but we figure that they’ve got some creative leeway here after making one of the best network dramas of the past decade.
The two explained their decision to go with something like this in a new statement:
“We wanted to do a show that was a mix of genre-pulp and high-brow politics … It seemed like the best way to address the news today — not straight, but as the opening act of a horror movie.”
To us, this sounds for the most part like a strange but good time. We imagine that they will have to figure out a new way to divide up their time over the next year or so, given that “BrainDead” is set for a launch next year and they will also be working on season 7 until around the spring of 2016. These two are certainly going to be getting even busier in the weeks and moths ahead.
