President Obama has fun with Jon Stewart in final ‘Daily Show’ interview
Jon Stewart returned to “The Daily Show” on Monday, and with that he is beginning what is the first of three final weeks of shows. Yesterday was more or less a smorgasbord for anyone who loves to see Stewart go at Donald Trump over some of his comments. Meanwhile, some of the fun today is more or less coming from getting an opportunity to see Stewart and President Obama speak to each other for one last time presumably on the show. Obama traveled to New York for the interview. Obama has appeared on the show multiple times both as a President and also as a candidate, and while there were some funny moments, Stewart also pressed him hard on veterans’ affairs and other issues, per the press traveling with the White House.
One of the better lines coming from the Commander-in-Chief himself was when he directly addressed the notion of Stewart departing the show more than a year before he is taking off from being President:
“I can’t believe you’re leaving before me. I’m going to issue an executive order. Jon Stewart cannot leave the show. It’s being challenged in the courts.”
Travor Noah is eventually replacing Stewart a little bit later in the summer, and for the most part anticipation is high to see what he does. He has a difficult gig in general, though, as he is following up one of the most-successful talk show hosts of the past several decades. Stewart helped to make Comedy Central into the network that it is today with his ratings and his influence.
