‘The Last Ship’ season 2, episode 6 review: Enter Jeffrey Michener

Last Ship -On Sunday night’s new episode of “The Last Ship,” we certainly received quite an education when it comes to what is happening in Florida … and some of it does not bode well for what the crew of the Nathan James are going to be doing moving forward.

We’ve already learned from the region that Sean and his army of sort of immunes are dangerous business. These are people who have found unity in a cause, and that is believing that they will inherit this new world and spread their message. That makes trying to battle them rather problematic. They have a very specific mindset for what they want to do, and everyone else has a reason to be somewhat afraid if it means destroying the virus and allowing others to suffer.

Now, let’s talk about Jeffrey Michener, who we met at the end of the episode. This is a man who may end up becoming President of the United States … the new United States, that is, if the immunes get their way. What about the crew of the Nathan James? This is suddenly the most important man in the world in many ways. Everyone is looking for someone they can rally behind at this point, and what skills this man possesses could be of value.

For the most part, our heart is in Florida looking at labs and the immune crisis this episode. It stands out somewhat in the midst of submarines and some of what we’ve seen the past few weeks. What we do like about this season at the moment is that we’ve mostly got a defined sense of good and evil, who we should be looking at seriously and also who is somewhat of an also-ran. The only downside tonight was that there was a lot going on, and this episode could have benefited from a little more focus in one place. Grade: B.
