’19 Kids and Counting’: Jill Duggar, Derick Dillard respond (sort of) to cancellation

19 Kids and Counting -At this given point in time, you have probably heard the news regarding the end of “19 Kids and Counting” on TLC. The series had a lengthy run, but the Josh Duggar molestation scandal derailed everything. The show was put on hold for many weeks, but come last Thursday the network finally canceled.

One of the first real clues that something like this was happening was when Jill Duggar, one of the most well-known women on the show, announced that she and her husband are going to be doing missionary work outside of the country alongside their young son. Now, the two have confirmed that. Per a post on their blog they are now in Central America, and while they did not directly mention the show’s cancellation, you can read between the lines of the following:

“God has put a desire in our hearts to serve Him internationally for longer than the typical short-term mission trip, but we didn’t know yet how God would fulfill that desire in us … Earlier this year God brought about an opportunity much earlier than either of us was expecting. Several months ago a new opportunity arose for us to serve God on the mission field.”

The truth here is that we would not be surprised if a family member or two would get back on TV eventually, even with all of the backlash in mind. Why? Controversy equals ratings. They may just not be back on TLC.

For the time being, though, there could be some time out of the spotlight for the clan.
