‘Supergirl’ spoilers: Enter Lucy Lane … and possibly Superwoman?

Prepare to see someone else with an extensive comic-book history when “Supergirl” premieres on CBS later this fall. This is a character to us that is especially curious, at least when you consider the rich history that they have with the source material already.

According to a new report coming in right now via TVLine, the CBS series is in the process of preparing to introduce Lucy Lane, a character who is the sibling of Lois Lane in the comics. She is someone who has a romantic history with Jimmy Olsen (played on the show by Mehcad Brooks), and she also happens to at one point hold the mantle of Superwoman. Is that a direction the show could be heading in with this character? For the time being, we are going to file that under “doubtful” mostly because it feels like introducing too many super-powered people on the level of Kara Zor-El would be problematic for the first season.

A more realistic situation to us could be giving us a dose of this character in the first season to create some sort of possible love triangle with Jimmy and Kara, and to leave it relatively open-ended as to whether or not this can happen down the road.

This is where the presence of someone like Andrew Kreisberg as executive producer really helps this show. Kreisberg knows a thing or two about giving you something great, while still holding something back. He was reserved in his use of Grodd on the first season of “The Flash,” and he also decided not really get Deathstroke going strong until we got to season 2.

For now, let us know what you think about this latest bit of news below!
