‘Halt and Catch Fire’ season 2, episode 8 preview: Cameron, Donna at odds again
Joe MacMillan has shown himself yet again to be a very mysterious, complicated guy. Despite spending a good chunk of this past episode of AMC’s “Halt and Catch Fire” encouraging Cameron to sell Mutiny to Jacob Wheeler, by the time the dust settled, he realized that was a bad idea when he saw more of Jacob’s intentions. We feel somewhat like he was haunted by the memory of the Giant and the literal fire he started there because he let the product go on for so long, really to the point where it was a shell of what he thought it could be.
Therefore, he told Cameron to keep the company, which is where the kindred spirit between these two characters lies. Joe is still somewhat an idealist at heart, and we feel like Cameron is at a point a vessel for him to watch some of these dreams a reality.
A problem here, though, is that in taking Joe’s advice (something that she claimed that she would ever do), Cameron is basically putting herself now in a position where it angers other people in her company. This includes Donna, and the preview below is dealing with the fallout of her decision. Donna and others wanted to see the company sold, and now that this hasn’t happened, Donna just wants to get the business as far away from Joe as possible. Can you really blame her for that? It’s hard to, given what we know Joe is capable of doing from a manipulative standpoint.
Hopefully, though, this episode proves that Cameron was right in her decision, and that we could see some positive steps in the right direction (finally) for Mutiny.

As usual the press or whatever Matt Carter is, gets everything wrong.

Joe is leaving Westgroup so Donna doesn’t need to do a thing.

Into what? Even more of a slave labor camp presided over by a psychotic tyrant?
