‘Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders’ spoilers: ‘Forever’ alum set to be new series regular
Since the pilot for “Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders,” there have been some changes, with the most high-profile ones being the somewhat-surprising exit of Anna Gunn. Given that she has that fan following thanks to “Breaking Bad,” we thought that this would be someone the show kept around in some capacity. However, that was not exactly the case.
Who is the show bringing in instead? Per Deadline, Alana de la Garza has been brought in for the part of Clara, a cultural anthropologist who will play a part on this team in the FBI, whose job is to assist Americans abroad who find themselves in trouble. Alana was recently a major part of “Forever,” and she is also going to have a recurring role on the upcoming second season of “Scorpion.”
This is not the only casting news worth noting at the moment. Also, you are going to see Annie Funke in the role of medical examiner Mae.
These two characters will have some time to settle in, and for the team to figure out what to do with them behind the scenes. The spin-off is currently not scheduled to actually come on the air until midseason, so it could be as late as March depending on what CBS wants to do with some of their other shows.
As filming starts to get underway, we’ll hopefully have some more news related to the series. We would imagine that at some point along the way, there will probably be another crossover in order to help the story get started with good support.
