‘Extant’ season 2 pushed forward an hour, ‘Criminal Minds’ repeats delayed to 10:00
CBS is trying clearly to do whatever they can to get “Extant” some better ratings on Wednesday night. Today, that includes trying to capitalize on a little better of a lead-in behind “Big Brother 17.”
Effective starting next week, the Halle Berry series will take the place of “Criminal Minds” repeats on the schedule, and is going to air starting at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time. Meanwhile, “Criminal Minds” is going to be delayed until 10:00 p.m. for the time being. It’s one of those procedurals that can draw okay ratings really no matter where it airs. We don’t think that it has anything to worry about at any point in the near future, so just go ahead and take a deep breath if you are worried about that.
The future of “Extant” is very much in doubt. The ratings are pretty woeful, and really to date the biggest asset the series has had is getting a lucrative deal with Amazon where CBS can have its episodes hit the internet very quickly after they air on TV. This is the sort of deal that the network also has with “Under the Dome,” and this helps both shows offset the cost of coming on the air, especially during the summer.
With that said, there’s always a point where low ratings are just low ratings. Just take a look at what is going on with “Hannibal” for some more evidence of this, sadly, this summer.
What do you think: Could this move actually prove to be some sort of asset to “Extant” moving forward? Share right now with a comment.
