‘Mr. Robot’ episode 5 preview: Elliot and ‘Steel Mountain’

“Mr. Robot” has spend four episodes so far focusing on the life, struggle, and neuroses of its main character Elliot, and yet it feels like some of the most intense story is still very much to come. We’ve seen some of Elliot’s skill showcased on the series in one way or another so far, but next week may feature his most difficult mission yet given where he is going, and also what he is being tasked to do.

The episode, which is of course goes by the impossible-to-say-title of “eps1.4_3xpl0its.wmv,” can be described with the following short synopsis, penned of course in the series’ signature style:

“fsociety arrives @ steel mountain – most secure data facility in USA. elliot needs to get in and get out-wuz he pwned?”

The promo that aired after tonight’s episode did make it very much clear that this is a story that is going to be about much more than just Elliot, though. Specifically, we witnessed one of the larger freakouts ever from Mr. Robot to date, and the entire world of this show is starting to crumble. We’re on a crazy journey right now that leads us to destinations unknown. Let’s just hope for a great ending and one that gives us at least a reasonable amount of hope Elliot can have a future that is not so complicated, and he is not tempted by the demons in the same way that he was tonight.
