‘Royal Pains’ season 7, episode 7 review: Divya’s romantic arc takes center stage

Royal Pains -Tonight’s new episode of “Royal Pains” helped to set the stage for the season finale next week, and for the most part provided some satisfaction to some of the stories that we have been watching. After all, tonight’s episode ended with a family dinner of sorts … if you can consider Boris and his man-of-mystery status family.

We did find ourselves reasonably enthralled with the secret operations of Hank and Evan alongside Boris, if for no other reason than that it allowed them to work together as brothers to a certain extent, and seeing Boris keep them apart has at times been somewhat frustrating.

Maybe the biggest surprise of the night comes in the form of Divya’s story. Here is someone who started off the hour in a great place romantically with a variety of different suitors to choose from in Quami and Raj. However, she turned away the prince, and then at the end of the episode he found that Raj owed it to himself to make something work with the mother of his children. They were going to do their best to talk things out. We are somewhat sad for her, but at the same time this marks a great opportunity for her to consider something with Jeremiah. Maybe that’s just the irrational ‘shipper in us hoping that.

Overall, we feel like this was an entertaining hour, but what’s interesting is that there really weren’t that many serious cliffhangers from what we’ve seen. We’ll have to see just what ideas the finale has cooked up. Sure, we do wish there was more of Paige or Jeremiah in here, but there were some subtle moves forward in between Divya realizing that her romantic plans were falling apart and Evan trying to secure a more permanent place as administrator. Grade: B.
