‘Supernatural’ season 11 spoilers: Jensen Ackles on common enemy, brothers working together

Bloodlines -There are a variety of different things to look forward to from the upcoming eleventh season of “Supernatural,” but we know at the moment that one that many longtime fans are exciting to see involves getting Sam and Dean back on the same page again, and actually working together to take on a common enemy in the Darkness.

As of late, what the brothers have been forced into dealing with a variety of unspeakable opponents that have really torn each other apart. We had a possessed Sam for a while, and this past season Dean was haunted throughout by the Mark of Cain. The dynamic has changed again, and based on what star Jensen Ackles told TVLine, he is really appreciating the opportunity to dive into something that feels almost like a callback to the series’ roots:

“One of things I like about [the Season 11 storyline] is it’s going back to the original format of having both brothers unaffected, meaning not drinking demon blood, not with the Mark of Cain on their arm … [It’s] just Sam and Dean as Sam and Dean, fighting a common target.”

This means to us that along the way this season we’ll probably get some more classic episodes where they, with the help of maybe a friend or two, take out some random monster. While we wouldn’t want every episode to stand on its own, part of the fun of this show is getting those old-school monster cases every now and then that test the writers’ imagination.
