‘The Fosters’ season 3, episode 6 review: Callie’s birthday ends with an AJ surprise
Monday night’s new episode of “The Fosters” continued a wide range of different events, and of course a whole lot of it proved to be various reminders that Callie’s birthday party was far from peaceful.
For one, she had to witness a fight between Brandon and AJ over their competing jealousies. Of course, there was the romantic aspects of things and Brandon’s history with Callie, and then you add in there the fact that they are competing for attention from Mike. Maybe there was a reason for there to be some jealousy over Callie, though, given that she and AJ kissed by the time we made it to the end of the episode. Also, Rosie O’Donnell returned, and in the process she found out about Callie’s termination but promised to hold onto some information for now.
Meanwhile, there were other problems with Callie, and not just when it comes to that car. She found out that Wyatt and Mariana hooked up recently, and of course it wasn’t the easiest thing in the world to hear. However, this is the sort of thing that she has to move past if she wants her relationship with her foster sister to carry forward moving on.
In the end, we’re not going to say that this is the most eventful episode in the history of the series. It was a very Callie-heavy episode save for the Stef / Lena counseling scenes, but we also saw her come of age and start to realize that, like Rosie said, she really has to start caring for herself more than worrying over others. Grade: B-.
