‘Arrow’s’ Oliver and Felicity, ‘iZombie,’ ‘Pretty Little Liars’ win MTV Fandom Awards

Arrow -The MTV Fandom Awards are still very much a new thing, and with that in mind we are still in the process of trying to process them. It’s basically a more specified version of the People’s Choice Awards that leverages more of the power of the internet in order for fans to support any and all of their favorite shows. We do like that it is not limited by a particular age range a la the Teen Choice Awards, and anyone can support just about whatever show that they ultimately want.

Below, we’ve got at least the TV-related winners of the awards. We’re not really going to get into any other winners, mostly because we cannot really comment on them and we live largely within some sort of TV bubble.

Ship of the Year – Oliver / Felicity (Olicity) from “Arrow.” A big achievement for the show given the number of other pairings out there. We’ve spent a lot of time thinking about why this ‘ship managed to take off, and we attribute much of it to the fact that the series in the early days never worked that hard to emphasize it. It just came organically out of the characters and their relationship, to the point where you started to realize that there were some feelings there. These pairings will always work better than some forced from the get-go.

Best New Fandom of the Year – “iZombie.” This show managed to beat “Empire,” which is one of the most-watched shows of the entire year. If that’s not an achievement, what really is? This is a huge step towards this show getting more recognition.

Feels Freakout of the Year – Revealing “A” is Charles on “Pretty Little Liars.” It’s nice to see “PLL” win something, but at the same time this really didn’t hit us in the “Feels.” We don’t really know Charles. It’s hard to have a deep emotional attachment.

We’ll be covering more of “Arrow” later today over at the link here. Stay tuned! Also, you can sign up to score some additional updates on all we cover, courtesy of our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: The CW.)
