‘Teen Wolf’ season 6 official; show renewed as Tyler Posey, Dylan O’Brien grace Comic-Con

Teen Wolf -

Who knew that fans of “Teen Wolf” were going to get so much great news within the short span of a single day? Not only is the MTV hit series getting to do a panel today at San Diego Comic-Con, but the series is also officially coming back for a sixth season!

Really, this is not much of a shocker. “Teen Wolf” is MTV’s most-successful scripted series, and has made stars of the likes of Tyler Posey, Dylan O’Brien, and others. It also is one that they can rely on for other programming, whether it be “Wolf Watch” or as a valuable ratings lead-in. So long as there are still stories to tell, there is really no reason to discontinue the show at all.

Of course, here is the question you do have to wonder: How long can Scott McCall remain a teen? We’ve already seen some actors want to move on from this world to do other things, and sooner or later that could happen to some of this cast. Many contracts that are signed for TV typically end after the sixth or seventh season. We feel like come in a year or two’s time, the show is going to have to start thinking about how to wrap the story up: Either you try to find a way to map out your ending with this cast, or you start to look at making this into some supernatural version of “Degrassi.”

For the time being, though, don’t worry about this too much. Just be grateful that you will be returning to Beacon Hills once again next summer.

There’s no word as of yet as to how many episodes season 6 will have. (Update: We now hear it is for 20 episodes.)
