‘Doctor Who’ season 9 to premiere September 19; see first trailer!

The latest -There are two surprises today when it comes to “Doctor Who,” and let us begin with this: The show is premiering on September 19! That is significantly later than we projected, given that season 8 premiered in late August, and it therefore provided us with an opportunity to get a hiatus of sorts between the proper finale and the Christmas Special.

This time, there will be less of a break in there, but rest assured that there is still going to be plenty of time for all twelve episodes to air before we get around once again to the special. May airing later in the year will be a good thing for the show, provided that more viewers will be home and not enjoying summer festivities.

Now, let’s talk the new trailer that was revealed today by the BBC. This is clearly the other surprise, since often Comic-Con is spoiled to something that other viewers cannot see. Maybe this is in some way a strike against Periscope and other streaming apps? It used to be easy to keep such things quiet and exclusive for people at the convention, but it is so much harder now in a world where there are so many easier ways in which to record things.

Regardless of the wait, there is a lot to look forward to on this new season! The guest stars this year include Maisie Williams and more of Michelle Gomez, who you hopefully came to know very well at the end of season 8 for “Missy,” otherwise known as the Master.
