‘Gotham’ season 2 spoilers: A clear clue at what’s to come for Jerome

Are you excited for the week ahead in “Gotham“? If we were you, we definitely would be. There is a San Diego Comic-Con panel coming later in the week, and it is there that you may get some further news in terms of some plot details from the new season.

What we can say right now is that, seemingly, the show is going to waste no time in season 2 picking up on the story of Jerome. How else do you explain the Instagram post below from Cameron Monaghan? This is a guy who only had a small role in the first season, but there were massive hints in there that his backstory was tied to The Joker.

Is this guy ultimately The Joker himself, or someone destined to pass along the torch? What makes this story so intriguing is more or less how little we actually know about the Joker character. He’s a man of great mystery, and therefore we envision having to sit around and have to deal with that speculation so much longer than we will any other character coming up that has such comic-book ties. Tigress has already been confirmed, and in addition to meeting people like Mr. Freeze in some form, we will of course not be abandoning Oswald Cobblepot or Edward Nygma in any form after their appearances in season 1.

The “Gotham” premiere will air on Fox on Monday, September 21, but we’ll have other information long before then.
