‘Teen Wolf’ season 5 spoilers: Will Tyler Hoechlin’s Derek be remembered in premiere?

The season 5 premiere of “Teen Wolf” is coming your way on Monday night, and as a result of that, it is only fair that you would have a variety of questions … including just what the role of Derek Hale could be in the story.

First and foremost, you should remember here that it was Tyler Hoechlin’s own decision to not return as series regular. In many ways, we get it. He’s a 27-year old actor on a show that is mostly spending the majority of the time in high school, and this is a very demanding place to work given all of the night shoots and the lengthy seasons these days.

However, don’t assume that his departure means that we are not going to get much in the way of story for Derek. As reported by TV Guide, this character will be at least touched on in some form during the season 5 premiere Monday. Whether or not he is addressed beyond just a mere mention remains to be seen, but rest assured that he is someone you should not forget about. He is a huge part of the show’s mythology.

We imagine that for the most part, one of the primary orders of business in the early part of the season will be introducing to the world the new character played on the show by Cody Christian. The “Pretty Little Liars” star is going to be some sort of an outsider, but he could end up figuring into what Scott, Stiles, and many of your other favorite characters are up to.
