NBC’s ‘Hannibal’ season 3, episode 4 reaction: What does Alana Bloom really want?

Hannibal -Last night’s new episode of “Hannibal” proved itself to be a heck of a crazy affair. We saw a variety of updates when it comes to several of the show’s characters, whether that be Alana Bloom, Mason Verger, Dr. Chilton, and of course the heartbreaking scenes with Jack Crawford over the death of his wife Bella.

More so than any other character, though, we feel like the side of Alana we are seeing as of late is completely different than what we saw from her during the second season. Is she motivated now by vengeance over what Hannibal did to her, Will, and others? That is part of it, but as Caroline Dhavernas stated in a post-episode interview with The Hollywood Reporter, there is something more to it:

“She wants some kind of revenge, but I think she wants him to get caught. Does she want him to die? Maybe not. But that’s what every character has to deal with this season — what do they want him to go through? Do they want to see him suffer? Do they want him to die? What she’s feeling is still very vague at this point. She has to deal with what happened to her when she comes to and understand why she didn’t see what was so apparent. She says to Chilton, you can’t see what you won’t see.”

Hopefully, Alana is going to get a chance for some sort of peace over the course of the season. We’re excited to see what happens to her now, mostly because it does feel very much like we are on a collision course. By the time we make it to the end of the next episode, we’d be shocked if many of our main characters are not in the same place. There’s only so much time left in the Florence, Italy story before we get to Red Dragon.
